trophy award with leaves surroundingCongratulations to the Contra Costa County Department of Child Support Services (Contra Costa County DCSS) for receiving the Standing Ovation Award from the Western Intergovernmental Child Support Engagement Council (WICSEC). During the 2021 Annual Training Conference, WICSEC honored Contra Costa County DCSS for their significant contribution to the Child Support program over the last year.

As the COVID-19 pandemic forced California into a shutdown in March 2020, the Contra Costa County DCSS Management Team immediately developed and implemented a Pandemic Response Plan to ensure that their customers continued to receive services. The plan included updated processes for Communication, Emergency Remote Work Policy, Home Office Set Up, Safety, New Workflow, and Maintaining an Educated and Connected Workforce. Each component required flexibility and creativity to ensure all employees and customers were comfortable during a time of immense uncertainty.

Coordinating and executing the Pandemic Response Plan was a massive lift requiring an “all hands on deck” effort from all Contra Costa County DCSS staff. Although it was difficult, staff learned and bonded in new and better ways, and all was accomplished without a single interruption in customer service.

The Standing Ovation Award was one of three WICSEC awards presented to the California Child Support Program. To learn more about the other two California award recipients, read the previous blog post here.
